Canine Animal Caregiver

Animal Caregiver (Canine)

Although we don’t have any current openings for Comfort Crew, we anticipate that part time positions will be open in the future.  We welcome well qualified applicants to submit their information at anytime so that we’ll have it for immediate consideration when the need arises.

Shifts tend to be part-time and range from 8:30am-6:30pm Saturday through Tuesday and 8:30am-8:30pm Wednesday through Friday.

Pay: $8.50/hr 

Job Description:

To ensure that each shelter animal is provided the highest quality of care, remains comfortable and in clean quarters, and is provided with daily exercise during their stay at Wayside Waifs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Rotate dogs in to playgroups
• Feed and water dogs
• Spot clean all areas throughout the day
• Lay blankets and provide toys to the animals

Education/Experience Required:

High school graduate or equivalent required. General knowledge of animal welfare helpful. Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Computer experience Windows based preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist-height
• Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping and similar movements required
• Must be able to physically restrain dogs weighing up to and including 100 lbs

In the Operations area, Wayside Waifs requires experience and/or knowledge of animals, a successful work history, and a pre-employment drug test. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, able to lift 50 lbs to waist height, and have a HS diploma or GED. Full benefits package. Rates begin at $8.50/hr and higher depending on experience.
