Adoptions Counselor

Schedule: Part Time. 22 hours per week.  Afternoon/evenings (1:30 - 8:30) and one weekend shift (11:30-6:30) required.
Pay: $9.00 per hour

Job Description:

Provide the highest quality of customer service to our guests as we assist them in finding an appropriate animal companion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Through conversation and education, match potential adopters with an appropriate animal companion.  This includes introducing guests to shelter animals, explaining the adoptions process, completing the application, and approving the adoption
• Market and promote retail items to customers
• Effectively communicate clear and accurate information to the public regarding the shelter's services, policies, and procedures in a professional and polite manner
• Place follow-up calls to recent adopters.

Requirements:

• One year of experience in customer service related field preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• General knowledge of Microsoft Windows and use of web browser
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist height
• Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping, walking and similar movements required
• Must be able to physically restrain dogs weighing up to and including 100 pounds

Animal Caregiver (Canine)

This position is currently filled, but we will accept applications for possible future openings. 

Schedule: Part Time. Shifts range from 8:30am-6:30pm Saturday through Tuesday and 8:30am-8:30pm Wednesday through Friday.
Pay: $8.75 per hour

Job Description:

To ensure that each shelter animal is provided the highest quality of care, remains comfortable and in clean quarters, and is provided with daily exercise during their stay at Wayside Waifs.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Rotate dogs in to playgroups
• Feed and water dogs
• Spot clean all areas throughout the day
• Lay blankets and provide toys to the animals

Education/Experience Required:

High school graduate or equivalent required. General knowledge of animal welfare helpful. Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Computer experience Windows based preferred.

 Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist-height
• Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping and similar movements required
• Must be able to physically restrain dogs weighing up to and including 100 lbs

In the Operations area, Wayside Waifs requires experience and/or knowledge of animals, a successful work history, and a pre-employment drug test. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, able to lift 50 lbs to waist height, and have a HS diploma or GED. Full benefits package. Rates begin at $8.75/hr and higher depending on experience.
